Mr. T. C. A. Ranganathan joined State Bank of India in 1975 and served in diverse roles, including as part of the Bank’s Technology Planning Group in the early 2000s and later setting up SBI’s first branch in China (Shanghai) in 2006. He went on to head SBI’s overseas branches and became Managing Director of State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur, his last assignment within the SBI system. In April 2010, he was appointed Chairman & Managing Director of Export-Import Bank of India, where he was part of several Government of India overseas initiatives such as the Indo-South Africa CEO Forum, Indo-Africa Business Council, and Indo-Myanmar Joint Trade & Investment Forum. He also served on the Emerging Markets Advisory Council of the Institute of International Finance (Washington, USA) and on the boards of ECGC, Agricultural Finance Corporation, as well as the management councils of CII, FICCI and Assocham.Currently, he is an Independent Director with listed companies, conducts arbitration cases, and writes a monthly economics column for Deccan Herald. An alumnus of the Delhi School of Economics, he has co-authored “All the Wrong Turns” on the Indian economy.
